Greetings,

I offer Japanese language classes in Manhattan for middle and high school students and adults. You can choose either individual or group lessons. I mainly focus on teaching Japanese heritage students of middle and high school. Continuing Japanese language learning alongside daily schoolwork and after-school activities is not easy. However, maintaining a little Japanese learning during this age will allow you to expand your possibilities and the world.

I support students who start learning Japanese through Japanese anime and movies, ensuring they can continue to enjoy their learning. Authentic materials will be used for all classes, and a curriculum based on ACTFL guidelines will be followed.

Before lessons begin, individual consultations will be held to discuss each student's journey in learning Japanese and their interests, allowing me to set personalized goals. I hope each individual can broaden their perspective on the world through Japanese language acquisition and enhance their life.

#1 Language Education for Younger Generation

Japanese heritage children growing up in the U.S., as well as those who have relocated to the U.S. for their parents’ work, often encounter language barriers in both English and Japanese. As parents, we hope our children will cherish Japanese, their parents' mother tongue while developing their English skills so that they can thrive when they return to Japan. I have always shared this sentiment. My elder daughter has graduated from college and started working, while my younger daughter is currently a college student. Given our frequent moves overseas, language acquisition has consistently posed a challenge. Making choices regarding schools and career paths while living abroad also involved significant decisions. My children were born in Los Angeles and grew up without attending a Japanese school. My experience teaching them Japanese and my life abroad inspired me to become a Japanese language teacher. After my younger daughter entered high school, I pursued studies in language education at a graduate school in the U.S. This program is designed for teaching languages in American schools (K-12). Integrating practical experience and theoretical knowledge has allowed me to engage deeply with this vibrant field of study. This blog aims to provide valuable information about language education for parents raising their children in America. I will also share insights for those learning Japanese as a foreign language.
